We're Moving!

It's official - the packing has begun! Sermon on the Mount will be moving to Verden, Oklahoma!! After months of diligent search and prayerfully considering requests and options from 20 states, we are confident of the Lord's leading New Arena - Exteriorto this somewhat remote, but very accessible location in central USA. The Sterretts (Lew & Melodie, David & Rhonda and family, Sandie & family, along with Darci Ellis) will initiate their move immediately.  It is hoped that all moving from MS & PA will be complete before Lew's  ten-day campaign at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games beginning on September 23, 2010.

Yes, it is a challenging, but timely work of the Lord as we conclude our work here at French Camp, MS with the Ministry Apprentice Program graduation on July 31, and seek to not only move, but also acquire and setup two additional homes, and renovate a building for an office.  Family needs and school schedules, along with existing speaking and presentation dates establish some very timely and unique David & Rhonda's new homeboundaries. We are trusting the Lord for help in moving and setup. Many of SOTM's friends in Oklahoma and Texas have already offered their help.
 

 

 

What to Expect

You can no doubt expect some delays in purchase orders and phone or email response while we transition, but we are attempting to stay plugged in at French Camp until we are up and running in our new facility. We will be initiating a regular E-newsletter to keep everyone informed of the great work God is doing. The newsletter will feature pictures and testimonies of this new adventure. You can no doubt appreciate that we will face many needs and trials along the way and your prayers are requested and appreciated!!

Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games

In September, we have the great opportunity to have ministry outreach at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, KY. SOTM has the opportunity to speak to 20-30,000 people in 10 days while we are there. We, along with a few others represent the only horse venue just off the campus of the KY Horse Park. As usual for an SOTM event, we do not charge admission.

SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE.....

Sermon on the Mount will continue to serve as a 'bridge builder' representing the body of Christ as a motivational illustrator of the gospel to the lost, and to promote unity within the body on the core values of the Christian faith to strengthen the understanding and resolve to make disciples.


SOTM will do this through live and televised presentations and through increased written and filmed resources.

Wow, what a year of change!  The staff, office and resources are moved to Mississippi; very soon we will have our 1-888-LEW-SOTM number working again in Mississippi.  Daniel Sterrett, Charlotte Jackson, and Tekoa Miller have teamed up, both for scheduling of events and processing orders, and for handling most matters pertaining to SOTM and my personal schedule.  The Pennsylvania team has been instrumental in helping us get on our feet, and you the public, have been very patient with the process; thank you!

The work in Mississippi is going well and the fruits of this new outreach are becoming more and more evident to the rest of the French Camp Academy (FCA) family and the surrounding community.  Staff and apprentices provide direct ministry to the French Camp Academy student body and extended outreaches to their families and community.  Our primary responsibilities at FCA include oversight of the camp, conference, and equestrian center with some emphasis on leadership development programs.  Needless to say, there are plenty of opportunities and we are challenged greatly.  Help has arisen in some of the most unlikely ways.

FCA has begun construction on the equestrian center upgrade that will provide a large covered arena and a new outdoor arena.  Upgrades in the barns and equipment will be needed in the future.  In the meantime, new literature has been prepared to introduce the brand new ministries available to youth, adults, and families under the banner of Rising Son Ministries (RSM) at French Camp Academy.

In partnership with Miracle Mountain Ranch (MMR), RSM will host their first SALT week and youth conference on February 7-15; Horse Lover’s weekends and a full slate of horse camps will be introduced this spring and summer.  You can check out the website, www.frenchcamp.org to keep abreast of updates.

Another new venture comes under the banner of Coaching 4 Life (C4L).  LEADERS BY H.E.A.R.T. is partnering with C4L to provide a new training program and support network now available to coaches, families, schools, and businesses.  Go to www.coaching4life.us and check out the new resources now available (reference Lew in making a purchase for our tracking benefit).  Weekly Time-Outs, bi-weekly Character Matters Webinars, and colorful character curriculum are included now in your subscription.  Check it out!

SOTM Update 1-09

Sermon on the Mount (SOTM)/ LEADERS BY H.E.A.R.T. (LBH)/ Principle Based Training (PBT) will hit the ground running for 2009 with a new product line, new resources, new messages, and a new itinerary. Thanks to the investment and advice of many, Sermon on the Mount is looking to raise the bar once again. Despite many challenges in 2008, with increased fuel costs, breakdowns, and adversities, the passion prevails to present God’s word in a relevant, effective, and timely way.

Joining with Stagecoach West and Bar J Tack, SOTM/PBT is offering a whole new product line of tack including a Lew Sterrett designer saddle, breast collar, bridle, specialty reins, driving lines, stirrup hobbles, and more. These products will be available through our online store at www.sermononthemount.org; or find them directly through Stagecoach West at www.stagecoachwest.com and then search by Lew Sterrett.

In addition to the Dwelling Place DVD series published in ’08 and Dr. Melodie Sterrett’s book The Balance of Loving Discipline, new resources are being produced for 2009. Topics will include a DVD series on The Coronation and books presently being written. The new book from Dr. Lew Sterrett, being published by Monarch Books, will be in WalMart stores this summer.

Efforts are on their way to centralize and nationalize the registration and promotion of events across the country. A new 501(C)3 organization called CAPTURING THE HEART will serve to provide funding for LBH and Coaching 4 Life outreaches. There are plans for a significant increase in the LBH outreaches throughout 2009. In addition to SOTM/LBH tours and regional training sessions, Lew and Melodie will host annual focus sessions for couples (Dynamic Oneness 2/13-15 Texas), families (Family Camp 10/3-10 Texas), youth (L.I.F.E. 6/7-12 Pennsylvania), and horse-training clinics (2/22-24 FL, 5/11-15 PA, 9/20-23 PA).

In an age of despair and hopelessness, the 2009 Sermon on the Mount and LEADERS BY H.E.A.R.T. events will emphasize a message of purpose and hope in an unparalleled way. Stay tuned to the website for continuing updates.
